Creative Youth Theater

Details about OUR PRODUCTION OF
"Bye Bye Birdie"
July 16-28, 2012 (subject to change-maybe one week earlier)

"Bye Bye Birdie" is a musical play  that takes place in the 1960's and is a spin off of the Elvis craze.  Conrad Birdie is a well-loved musical star who has been drafted into the army.  He has one last big hurrah in a small town where he has a huge devoted fan club.  Fun music, acting parts for every age, singing and non-singing parts,  an all-around fun, fast moving story.

While  Christie Miller, the director of Creative Youth Theater,  usually writes her own plays, this one will be an adaptation of the movie and the Broadway play.   This is a really fun play to put on --taking creativity, teamwork,  and lots of wonderful energy.  If  you happen to watch the movie, realize that our productions
are conservative, and not tainted by Hollywood's tactics.  We want to provide a safe and fun place to
learn and grow which is age-appropriate.   This is why I always adapt the scripts to fit the kids involved in the two-week program.
